When I married Jared and he swept me off to Hawaii on our honeymoon where we stayed at a nice hotel I was SO excited for the breakfast. Like my father, I LOVE BREAKFAST. I love a million choices of eggs and pastries and hot chocolate and fruits and bagels and toasts and jams and oh I could go on. One morning we went down to the restaurant for breakfast and my eyes lit up as I perused the menu. I could do the buffet and just eat a little of EVERYTHING or I could just order something like eggs benedict. I opted for the buffet. When Jared ordered he just asked for oatmeal. I said, "Are you kidding me? Are you trying to stay trim or something because I know we're freshly married but I'll love you no matter your size, I mean how can you pass up all of this goodness?" He responded with, "it just makes me feel good to start the stay off with a bowl full of oatmeal." So cliche right? Well, like usual, he was right. I felt sick after...I had the benedict the next day.
I sometimes start my day off with oatmeal...or when people are in town I'll make them croissant french toast. Jared has passed along his love for oatmeal (not the instant kind) to our children who will gladly eat 1/2 his bowl. Sylvia sometimes likes hers in balls on her tray.

I agree. I'm always happier when I start the day with oatmeal. I used to always order it when I traveled for work and I often do on vacation too.
I can attest personally that the French toast croissants are insanely good! If you guys come visit I'll make ebelskivers!!!
I'm like you Alice. So, what's jared's oatmeal recipe??
