Memorial Day Blasts! (literally)

Yesterday I was lured into watching a Civil War Reenactment in the Santa Cruz mountains. Yes, it was loud, weird and loud. I was a little disapointed not to see any blood. I think the highlight of the day was when Clark yelled out, "The Feds are cheating." Yes, there were several shots with no one going down. We did have to remember way back in 5th grade learning about the war and how inaccurate their weaponry was.

We met some very interesting people who actually did this for their everday life. I think some of them believe that they live in 1863 and need to wear the 80 lbs of wool in 90 degree weather. Needless to say, our group was a little out of place with the styling of our attire.

Getting in the mood.

We had to BEG Jared not to buy this Confederate hat. He thought that he could sneak into the battle with it on.

Invasion of personal space

I was just trying to get comfortable and of course these boys felt the need to squish me in the heat.

Saturn Cafe

Jared, Travis, Amanda and I headed to Santa Cruz to eat at the Saturn Cafe. It is a great experience, with rockin' music and a great atmosphere which makes up for the not-so-delicious veggie burger (according to Amanda.) Each table is a display box full of lots of random finds. I added something of my own to one of the tables. If you want to know what it was you'll have to take me there for lunch sometime and I'll show you.

Sunday Fun

Today was such a gorgeous day...I decided to take advantage. First I went on a motorcycle ride with my friend Garrett, (don't worry Dad I wore a helmet and he's a safe driver.) The day was perfectly clear and we could see the ocean and the S.F. bay at the same time while riding along Skyline. Then Sarah and I headed to Lake Logunita on Stanford campus to catch frogs, and theeeeen Emily and I went and walked the dish. After we headed to a BBQ and off to the "pink house" (where Travis, Jesse and Jared live) to have some of Travis's much anticipated lemon sorbet. After that Jerrí and Amanda came over for midnight fun.

Delicious dinner

Last night I felt like cooking. So Travis (an amazing chef himself), Jared and Amanda came over to enjoy it.
Menu
-Pork Tenderloin with a mushroom, cream and dry Sherry sauce
-Tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil salad
-Couscous
-Broiled Asparagus
-Blood-Orange soda from TJ's

It turned out well.

Ride

A former friend of mine and I went on a 40 mile bike ride on Saturday. It was hot and glorious and tiring. I got up to 38 mph. Probably not a good idea. i was wearing my Google jersey (thanks Jared) and some guys thought I was super rich and worked for Google. They were asking about my other bikes. I failed to mention that I was just a poor art teacher. Can anyone say, "poser?"

The biggest challenge

One of the biggest challenges is getting a photo of Jared.

The next photo has been removed due to an unsastified friend who was not happy with the shot. The sole purpose of the removal was to retain a cherished friendship and avoid swings in our next boxing class.

Lets go fly a kite...

Jared and I headed up to Windy Hill on Skyline to go fly a kite. Well the weather was perfect and then we got stuck in a pocket of clouds and mist. It was windy but a bit chilly. We flew the kite so high that we could barely see it when it got further out.

la la la

Jared had a nice time running around with the kite.

oh no

I was just trying to keep from flying away with the kite. The wind was angry that day my friends.
